(Juan's Rant - cause we have feelings too!)  Social Media Haters. This week's prize goes to someone refering to themselves as "Will Be Calling ACLU" on This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. because he or she took offense to Iguana Mia stating we will take a picture of our Free Birthday Guests looking stupido in a cheap campy sombrero or hat if they so choose. "Will Be Calling ACLU" said Iguana Mia is making money and defaming the institution of the Sombrero.......OK - we will refer to this person going forward as"ChickenS**t" - Iguana Mia does know of at least 30,000 SWFL people that do understand what this is all about because they take advantage of the 30,000 FREE Meals we are providing on their annual Birthday visits to Iguana Mia and we are just saying, in jest, the person wearing the hat may take a picture to capture the moment while looking a little stupid. We are not defaming the Tapatios of Guadalajara or their Sombreros.....we are helping people celebrate their Birthdays!       We understand critisim that is deserved and we will work hard to learn from and correct our mistakes, but at least know what you are talking about.  In addition, the biggest mistake people make posting a review is calling Iguana Mia a Tex-Mex restaurant.....we opened for business 28 years ago with our menu partially based on what American people wanted to eat at the time, but we also stayed true to our Sonoran heritage. Sure Tex-Mex beef, burritos, chimichangas, nachos & fajitas are Mexican American and we will serve these items as long as people want to order them, but if your looking for something traditional or "nuevo" in your Mexican cuisine try our Pozole, Flautas, Mexico City Style Tostadas, Machaca Beef, Pescado Mojo de Ajo, Multiple types of Enchiladas, Tamales, Carnitas, Tacos al Pastor and so much more.   Don't take this the wrong way, we love to see you come and give us a try, we are just asking you to be more understanding when posting a review because we have served an average of 385,000 meals a year for 20 + years and our Executive Chef Julian Prieto and his Kitchen Managers and staff would be somewhat perplexed being called or accused of not being Mexican or Hispanic or not practicing South of the Border preparation of foods.

**PETS at IGUANA MIA** Please forgive us if we can't serve you or your party if one of the members is obviously a family pet you are attempting to bring in our restaurant and try the "its a service animal" routine on us....you are taking advantage of a ADA law which is only intended for those truely in need which does not include the need to include your dressed up pet in our other guest's dining experience!  Pets are like people as they can not stay in hot vehicles,  while you are dining out...so leave them in the A/C at home please!  Note - restaurants must also abide by guidelines and statues concerning health and sanitation in our dining and seating areas....no animals, including service animals, are allowed on chairs, booths or tables. They must be restrained and seated on the floor without obstructing the public's movements within the guest areas of the business.

ONLINE ORDERING SCAM - Iguana Mia does not process online orders itself nor do we authorize a 3rd party to process online carry-out orders or any delivery service for our restaurants. *** To Many Ordering Options folks***  Please call 866-639-3287 (866-MEX-EATS) and follow promps to "habla" to a live human person to order up some tasty Mexican food for carry-out.

We will never microwave or precook your food! All of our entrees are made to order, which may take extra time, but we believe that our Mexican food is consistently the best in town.

If we do not exceed your expectations, please ask for the Dining Room Manager immediately. A great relationship is a two way street, so please share your concerns well before checkout. Only in this way can we immediately work to correct an issue affecting your dining experience. No restaurant can be perfect, but we strive to make things right, Juan says "We no read minds mi amigos. Upon your notice we will remake or replace any item, but if you eat it or drink it first, you bought it"

Iguana Mia 101

Iguana Mia

Iguana Mia’s name, the locally infamous exterior color and the story of Juan & his Iguana were all conceived on a cocktail napkin in April of 1990 in the lounge of the Prawnbroker Restaurant.

The Original Iguana Mia opened for business on September 26th 1990 in the current Cape Coral restaurant site. The Fort Myers location was opened in 1995, followed by the Bonita Springs location in 1999.
